The opportunity
EY is looking for a Manager to join the Sustainable Finance consulting team with Ernst & Young Actuarissen (EYA). The team advises and supports clients in financial services on defining, embedding, achieving and monitoring their sustainability goals. We are looking for an experienced professional to deliver on client projects, with an initial focus on climate risk stress testing and related topics, whereby the scope can broaden beyond the Environmental topic in future years towards Social and Governmental (full ESG spectrum).
Typical clients include asset managers, banks, insurers and pension funds. The team works closely with the C-suite at our clients, where we support and advise them on their sustainability journey from start to finish. Typical client projects include supporting the client in defining sustainability targets, benchmarking their ambitions against competitors, ensuring their compliance with (new) regulatory requirements and assessing the impact of climate risk scenarios. The Manager in Sustainable Finance brings the expertise, enthusiasm and creativity to provide our clients with innovative insights and, in doing so, make a meaningful contribution to a more sustainable financial services industry.
As Manager you are responsible for delivering the exceptional service quality your clients have come to expect. Your focus on climate risk stress testing means that you will play an essential part in mobilizing our clients to transform their business and ensure their license to operate. You will work closely with other financial services practitioners, including operational, risk, technology and strategy professionals to leverage the full range of consulting skillsets needed to answer your clients’ needs. Coaching and enabling our consultants and serving as a subject matter expert are integral parts of your tasks and responsibilities.

Your key responsibilities
- Deliver on Sustainable Finance projects, with an initial focus on climate risk stress testing.
- Take responsibility for your client projects from start to finish: identify opportunities, assemble the right team and expertise, produce high quality deliverables, close the project and obtain client feedback. During projects you ensure the project remains on budget, you engage with client contacts and maintain a flexible attitude to evolving client needs .
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships with client contacts in order to further grow our Sustainable Finance business.
- Be a proactive member of the local and international Sustainable Finance teams by sharing local insights, performing (international) commercial activities and contributing to thought leadership across Europe and beyond.
- Work effectively as a team member sharing responsibility, providing support, maintaining communication, coaching and developing junior team members.
- Work across competencies and build strong relationships with other professionals in EY Actuarial, Business Consulting, and other service lines.
- Contribute to performance feedback for junior colleagues and help them build their career.
- Contribute to people initiatives including recruiting and retaining EYA professionals.
- Contribute to a diverse and inclusive environment that values different perspectives to fuel innovation, foster collaboration and strengthen relationships.
- Maintain an educational program to continually develop personal skills.
Skills and attributes for success

The ideal candidate has
- 5-8 years of experience in financial services, either as part of an institution; in an advisory or business consulting capacity to such organizations or with a regulatory body / standards setter.
- Experience in Sustainable Finance, preferably with a focus on climate risk stress testing. Demonstrable affinity with (international) rules and regulations on Sustainable Finance is a strong plus.
- A strong academic background including at least a Master’s degree in (quantitative) finance, econometrics or actuarial sciences, or related masters with a strong affinity to Sustainability like hydrology .
- The ability to drive business development and contribute to the growth of our Sustainable Finance solutions.
- Project, client and stakeholder management experience.
- A strong drive to develop him/herself and the people (s)he is working with on an ongoing basis.
