The opportunity
When our audit teams or audit practice is faced with challenges in relation to providing high quality audits to our clients, the Flying Squad stands ready to support. As member of the flexible layer within the Flying Squad you become part of an audit team and help them deliver the high quality audit they are working on. In addition hereto, you will be involved in projects in which the Flying Squad supports audit teams in the audit of complex accounting and auditing matters. Support might relate to audit topics such as potential or alleged fraud, mitigating risk from regulatory reviews or mitigating potential reputational risk for EY as well as to accounting topics such as IFRS conversions, mergers & acquisitions, carve-outs and capital market transactions. Furthermore, the Flying Squad will also be the linking pin between our audit teams and our Professional Practice Group which enables you to further develop your technical skills and train audit teams. You will be given all the skills, knowledge and opportunities to progress and become ready to build a better working world for our people, our clients and the communities that support us.
Your key responsibilities
Within our Assurance department, EY has recently started a new team of highly skilled professionals, the ‘Flying Squad’. As a member of our Flying Squad, you will be supporting the audit teams in the audit of complex accounting and auditing topics. You will not be a spectator at the sideline, but instead you will be right in the center of the action. The Flying Squad fully operates project based and as a result a high degree of variation in the nature and timing of procedures to be performed is guaranteed.

Skills and attributes for success
You’re likely to balance your time between managing a team of assurance professionals across a portfolio of projects, and personally engaging with our clients. It’s the perfect role if you’re looking to diversify your professional management skills and experiences, all while further developing your leadership skills.
To qualify for the role you must have
- A bachelor’s degree in an accounting, finance or business.
- A minimum of five (5) years’ work experience as an auditor in an audit firm
- An internationally recognized professional accounting qualification, such as a RA, CA, CPA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent
- Engagement management, execution and reporting skills, and the ability to build relationships with clients with a diverse range of backgrounds
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Confidence in your ability to prioritize when managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills and a collaborative approach to management
- The flexibility to constantly learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
