The opportunity
EY is looking for a Manager with a pension background to join the Pension team within EY Actuarial Services in our Amsterdam office. The Pension team works with all stakeholders in the pension market including pension funds and local and international corporates. We look to pensions and related employee benefits from various consulting perspectives such as risk management, valuation, transformation, data quality. communication and other challenges. The team works closely together with other (financial) services practitioners within EY, bringing together all disciplines that are required to fully support clients’ often highly specific and complex requirements. In this role you will participate in various projects, for instance transaction support and pension advisory, also applying data analytics and data visualization techniques.
Together, our team works across disciplines, service lines and countries to form one of the most uniquely diverse teams in the market, where we combine both pension and HR consulting in our services. Our comprehensive range of skills allows us to provide pension-related advice across an extensive range of hot topics.
Your key responsibilities
- Manage with enthusiasm in consulting pension and HR related engagements, showing interest in the pension area in a wider sense.
- Develop and maintain productive working relationships with engagement teams and client personnel, also within multi-disciplinary engagements, for instance with our colleagues from HVG Law and EY People Advisory Services
- Manage and perform transaction support on pension and HR related topics with a critical and open mindset, applying a mindset to optimize the efficiency of these engagements (e.g. applying automatization techniques, leveraging global EY teams and knowledge)
- Effective team management, providing support to senior team members and coaching and guiding of junior team members. Be a team player!
- Be proactive and come up with creative, innovative ideas and solutions, supporting the market for instance in its transformation towards the new pension system, not only from a quantitative perspective but also from communication and data sciences and data quality perspective.
- Be proactive member of the EMEIA team and share local insights to the wider team, perform commercial activities at both local and the EMEIA level, selling business
- Work effectively as a team member sharing responsibility, providing support, maintaining communication, coaching and developing junior team members
- Build strong internal relationships and a network within EY, both local, cross-service line and global.
- Contribute to performance feedback for the team and help them build their career
- Contribute to people initiatives including recruiting and retaining our professionals
- Maintain an educational program to continually develop personal skills
Skills and attributes for success

To qualify for the role you must have
- 5-8 years of experience in pension services market, either as part of a pension institution or in an advisory or business consulting capacity to organizations or corporates.
- Strong academic background including at least a Master’s degree in quantitative finance, math, actuarial, econometrics or equivalent.
- Experienced in one or more of the following topics: new Dutch pension system, valuation of employee benefit risks, pension fund consulting or pension and HR consulting for corporates.
- Modelling background, including experience in model development of risk and valuation models and experience of standard techniques used.
- Ability to drive business development and contribute to the growth of the EY market solutions. Drafting proposals, reports and developing commercial initiatives
- Experience in executing complex projects, managing relevant stakeholders, including project, client and stakeholder management experience
Ideally, you’ll also have
- Professional Qualification e.g. AAG / WFT pension advisory
- Experience in any of the following software development environments: Python / R / VBA / Java / C++ / SQL / Matlab / .NET
- Experience in AI and Machine Learning
