
Experienced Corporate consultant (Global) Pension Risk Management - AMS0008O
As part of our retirement multinational team, Mercer is looking to recruit an experienced Consultant for the Corporate Consulting and Multinational Retirement Group based in the Netherlands. As Pension Risk consultant, you will support the existing team in managing a wide range of both actuarial and consultancy assignments for a portfolio of clients, where you will both manage projects and effectively liaise with other parties.
You can expect to work across a wide variety of areas for locally based multinational organisations, as well as
international companies, consulting on global pensions and benefits, global accounting consolidation and Mergers and Acquisitions.
Responsibilities
You will be engaged with the team’s portfolio of clients, supporting and in cases, managing multi-disciplinary and/or multi-country teams on our clients’ behalf.
Typical work includes accounting consolidations, assessing global risk approaches, as well as supporting M&A deals.
You will need to be able to deliver within tight deadlines and will need to demonstrate a high degree of autonomy.
- Proactively managing the completion and timely delivery of client work, ensuring all relevant compliance procedures are followed;
- Managing actuarial consolidations and coordination, including validating accounting results;
- Contributing to new business proposals;
- Project and change management in the M&A area (pre-deal to integration);
- Responding to (inter)national requests for information and assistance;
- Writing technical multi-country reports on benefits (and compensation).
Profile
Mercer is looking for an energetic and ambitious candidate who enjoys working in an international environment. You possess the right mix of communicative and social skills and have the ability to develop relationships and be a strong team player. Without saying, we expect insight and understanding of international & local pensions and benefits environment, as well as interest in M&A activities.
You will report to the Domestic Corporates & Multinational (people) manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelor/Master degree and 10+ years of applicable work experience;
- Excellent verbal and written skills in English and Dutch. Other languages are a major plus;
- Able to manage and co-ordinate projects, in conjunction with other consultants as required;
- Very high level of presentation and communication skills;
- A commercial consulting outlook and approach, with ability to express yourself creatively;
- In-depth understanding of how pension schemes and benefit arrangements operate;
- Knowledge of accounting standards;
- Experience of actuarial valuation calculations;
- Experience in M&A deals with respect to pension benefits and related benefits.
