Join our In-house team, managing relationships with our consultants and working with great people.

This is a great opportunity for an individual with a background in top-tier management consulting to help drive the “people-engine” of the most successful independent consultant firm in the world. We want to expand our in-house team by recruiting someone who has strong problem-solving skills, is great at multi-tasking, is creative and has superb people skills. In return, we offer a chance to work with an amazing team of highly-motivated and professionally very accomplished consultants (all from world-class organisations) across multiple offices and for a fast-growing, innovative consulting company. Almost no business travel is required and office hours are full, but predictable.

About Eden McCallum

Eden McCallum is redefining management consulting. We support clients to resolve their most pressing issues of strategy, operations and organisation. Working with a group of 500+ independent consultants of the highest calibre, we have pioneered an approach that delivers tangible impact, client ownership, experienced teams and great value.

From our offices in Amsterdam, London and Zurich, we have over the last 15 years delivered over 1,800 projects for over 300 clients across 5 continents, including 40% of the Dutch AEX, a third of the UK’s FTSE 100, a third of the world’s largest private equity houses and 50 of the global Fortune 500. 85% of our work is for clients choosing to work with us again.

Our consultants have studied and worked at world-class institutions. Clients are impressed, not only by the skills, experience and raw smarts of Eden McCallum consultants, but also by their personality and commitment. They opt in to every project and focus on delivering great results, released from the internal demands of their traditional consulting firms.

We respond to our clients’ issues by listening and, as appropriate, translating these challenges into thoughtfully scoped projects. We shape teams with only the most relevant expertise and fit and support our consultants closely as they carry out the projects. And supported by our low cost base, we focus on delivering great value.

We are making consulting better for clients and for consultants. For this, we have been recognised with features in Harvard Business Review, The Economist, the Financial Times, Het Financieele Dagblad and WirtschaftsWoche, and by leading academics at Harvard Business School and London Business School.

Role of Manager in Eden McCallum’s Consultant Team

Our Benelux office, based in Amsterdam, is currently celebrating its 10 year anniversary. Over that period, we have become an established player in the Benelux consulting market and we are looking for someone who will be excited about the opportunity to join our Consultant Team to help us to drive our next phase of growth.

Our consultant team is responsible for building relationships with our independent consultants, ensuring that we are able to attract, assess and staff the best independent consultants for the portfolio of work we deliver. Working with the best of consulting colleagues, across our offices, they collaborate across the business, including with our Client Partners, who focus on developing, scoping and managing the delivery of our projects for clients.

Our consultant team is based across both London and Amsterdam and is well established in each location. However, we are growing our team in Amsterdam and are looking for one or, potentially, two talented individuals to join the small, high performing team that is already in situ. The role will involve further developing our talent management activities based in the region, which includes: consultant recruiting, staffing and relationship management. These all present new and intriguing challenges compared to the same activities in a traditional consulting firm.

Our consultants are not employed by us, they have many choices and our success depends as much on projects being rewarding for them, as impactful for our clients. Delivering outstanding Eden McCallum teams involves creative problem solving, complex communications and negotiations, close collaboration with colleagues and a gift for building relationships based in trust. And because Eden McCallum’s reputation depends on the calibre of the consultants on our teams, this role is pivotal in delivering our winning proposition to clients.

In addition to their core talent management role, as part of our fast-developing business, we would expect the successful candidate to have the opportunity to work with our Leadership Team and broader business to deliver strategic and operational improvement projects internally.

Required experience and attributes

Ideally, a minimum of five years of professional experience, of which at least three years in consulting with a major international strategy consulting firm. However, candidates with more years of relevant experience can also potentially be accommodated and would take more of a lead role in this growing team, so if you feel you meet the criteria, please get in touch.

Attributes:

  • A talent for understanding, connecting with and assessing people – not only in relation to
core consultant skill sets, but also in terms of what motivates them and what they love doing
  • A strong relationship builder and a persuasive ambassador for new ideas, who is curious
about people, empathetic and energised by engaging with others
  • Naturally collaborative and motivated to help others be successful
  • A creative problem solver, who enjoys the challenge of many variables
  • An awareness of consulting approaches across strategy, operational improvement and
    organisation
  • Fluent, structured and compelling communications style, both verbally and in writing
  • At ease with multi-tasking and prioritising under pressure
  • Committed to excellence in all aspects of what they do
  • Creative, entrepreneurial and motivated to shape the firm as it grows
  • Fluent English & Dutch are a must, German is a welcome plus
  • To be considered for a more senior role: A track record of managing teams, including the
