The Business


Willis Towers Watson's Global Services & Solutions (GSS) team is dedicated to serving the needs of the headquarters of our multinational clients. Operating in the global market place means multinational companies face a variety of different business, cultural, language and regulatory environments. Our GSS team helps these companies navigate these challenges. We advise multinational companies on certain specialist topics where GSS has unique experience. We also act as a single point of contact to help solve client questions where we draw on the expertise of all our colleagues from around the world.
The role of a Consultant in GSS is varied and challenging, encompassing a wide range of different types of work. We group our services into four main areas as follows:
Multi-country coordination and project management
  • We provide expert advice and coordination for global projects including for example:
    • Accounting consolidation for employee benefit plans globally
    • Due diligence and integration associated with cross-border mergers, acquisitions and divestitures
    • Benefit inventory, benchmarking against market practice and compliance
    • Global broking and other benefits procurement activity.

Strategic advice around the management of employee benefits
  • We provide advice to headquarters on the most efficient management of their employee benefits. Examples might include:
    • Supporting global oversight and governance procedures
    • Co-sourcing of benefits management
    • Health & wellbeing strategies

Technical expertise on global risk management
  • We advise clients on optimal risk management solutions
    • Financial, cost and risk control solutions for retirement plans globally
    • Multinational pooling and captive solutions

Supporting global reach
  • We support clients in markets where Willis Towers Watson doesn't have an office, or by supplementing specific knowledge areas as required where we do have offices
  • We provide guidance to clients on expanding into new markets, and technical support around supranational issues such as managing expatriate populations and the appropriate use of offshore financing vehicles
Consultants in our Dutch team work across borders in international teams supporting multinational organizations headquartered in the Netherlands and elsewhere as well as regional headquarters of other multinationals.
Our current GSS Leader for GSS in the Netherlands will be taking on another role within the organisation, and we are now looking for his successor.


The Role


As Leader for Global Services & Solutions (GSS) in the Netherlands, you will have responsibility for the direction and performance of the team based in Amstelveen. In this role, you will work with the Local and Regional Business leaders, Client Relationship Developers, Sales Leaders, Subject Matter Experts, as well other country leaders for GSS in Europe.
In addition to the responsibilities of being a Senior International Consultant (i.e. responsible for a number of multinational clients, developing new business, leading and delivering large strategic client engagements etc.), the specific responsibilities of the role will include the following:
Financial and Profitable Growth
  • Provide leadership to driving further sales growth for the Dutch business, by working with senior colleagues within and outside the GSS to identify and pursue new client opportunities as well as expand existing relationships
  • Provide subject matter expertise, guidance in building market presence and working across other segments to provide an integrated approach to clients
  • Develop and set the annual financial plan for the Dutch team and support the regular forecasting process, in conjunction with the Western European Regional Leader
  • P&L responsibility for the Dutch team and therefore responsible for monitoring and taking action as appropriate in order to meet or exceed the revenue and profit goals of the Dutch team, with particular attention to good billing practices and cost control to reach profit targets
Clients & Innovation
  • Be responsible for a number of important client relationships
  • Take responsibility for the delivery of all GSS services and products locally, providing support to colleagues for the delivery
  • Develop the marketing plan for GSS in the Netherlands, coordinating with the regional GSS marketing plan and with other Dutch lines of business
  • Support Intellectual Capital development, commercialisation and dissemination of IC in cooperation with the IC leadership
People
  • Leading, engaging and directing people within the location
  • Developing and executing strategic staffing plans including all people processes (e.g. recruiting, training and development, goal setting and performance management, employee satisfaction and compensation/bonus recommendations)

Excellence
  • Managing risk by ensuring appropriate governance and that quality work processes are adopted
  • Working with and supporting the Performance Excellence (PE) champion to ensure good PE scores are achieved from PE reviews


The Requirements


  • Proven leadership skills
  • Strong commercial focus and skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships both internally and externally
  • Experience of operational management either of a business unit or complex projects including setting and managing budgets and key metrics.
  • Track record of success in managing large client relationships
  • High standards of practice in governance and work practices, including ability to influence and collaborate with senior management and work across all levels of the organisation
  • Interest and aptitude in keeping abreast of latest developments in global compensation/benefits approaches and contributing to the development of new tools and approaches
