From our Operations competency we help leading companies with optimizing their operations processes in the field of Manufacturing as well as Services. This ranges from organizational wide operating model redesign and restructuring, department and process improvements as well as the design and implementation of a Continuous Improvement / Lean (Six Sigma) program. By Services we mean both companies where the product range is based on specific services, as well as Service departments within a company itself (e.g. Finance, Customer Service, Marketing) to support their core business.
 
For our growing SC&O practice in Amsterdam we are looking for a Manager Operational Excellence (OpEx) for Services to join our team.

We have a distinct vision and approach towards Operational Excellence where we see that performance can only be improved when the right capabilities are build.
 
In our approach we work on improving companies through identifying the right Continuous Improvement Tools & Methods where we developed a playbook that covers what the daily/weekly routines must be from employees, which tool to use in which week to effectively implement a new way of working with full employee involvement. We provide Leadership with the capabilities to set direction, empower its employees and lead the change. Moreover, together with the client we develop a Performance Journey that defines what good looks like, set goals and measures and define the required capabilities to track and enhance performance throughout the Operational Excellence journey. Furthermore, we develop the right organizational design to achieve the desired business results. These elements are enabled by Technology such as process mining and data analytics to efficiently analyze where companies can improve and/or Robotic Process Automation (RPA) how companies can automate their processes.
 

Typically we start with an Operational Excellence assessment to identify how client are performing and will create insights in what the improvement potential will be. This will result in a business case and baseline for the implementation phase. Within the implementation phase we build capabilities by coaching the client in order to deliver a sustainable change and achieve their performance potential.


Position
As a Manager your key role will be to lead client engagements and internal projects. Drawing on your knowledge, skills and experience, you will build valued relationships with external clients and internal peers. Moreover, you will lead project proposal development and thought leadership. You will lead teams at our clients, supporting them with improving their business performance. You will manage EY advisors and senior advisors and client team members, perform analyses and report findings and results. You will review other’s work to ensure it exceeds the client’s expectations. You will mentor others as they progress in their own career.
 
Other important parts of your role are:
 
  • Effectively manage and motivate client engagement teams with diverse skills and backgrounds while providing constructive on-the-job feedback/coaching to team members
  • Actively establish, maintain and strengthen internal and external relationships
  • Be a champion of diversity and inclusion within your project teams
  • Identify and raise potential business opportunities for EY on existing engagements
  • Anticipate and identify risks and raise issues with senior members of the team as appropriate
  • In line with our commitment to quality, you'll determine that work is of high quality and is reviewed by the next-level reviewer
  • As an influential member of the team, you'll help to create a positive learning culture and will coach and counsel junior team members and help them to develop.

Profile
For this position we would like to get in touch with Professionals who have a passion for Operational Excellence in Services and fit the following profile:

 

Required:

 

  • Approximately 5-8 years working experience in Consultancy and/or in Industry in the field of Operational Excellence / Lean / Continuous Improvement within Services,
  • A proven track record of transformational experience to achieve positive results and changes in organizations
  • A bachelor’s degree preferably with emphasis in Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, (Industrial) Engineering or similar with strong academic records
  • Demonstrated record of working with “C” level individuals in large multinational companies
  • Fluent in English - written and spoken
  • Experience managing staff on multiple projects and providing direction to team members
  • Excellent analytical capabilities, drive, enthusiasm, conceptual thinking, communication and influencing skills and pragmatism in execution
  • A proven ability to team effectively with diverse groups
  • Strong software skills in Excel, Powerpoint, Word and Microsoft Visio
  • Has knowledge, understanding and or used different technologies, data analytic tools (Python/R/Qlikview/Power BI), data visualization (tableau/spotfire), process mining and or robotic process automation platforms (BluePrism/UIpath/Automation Anywhere)
  • Has experience and knowledge regarding agile/SCRUM project management
  • A willingness to travel internationally to meet client needs

 

Preferred:

  • Additional European language skills would be an advantage – particularly Dutch/ German/ French/ Spanish
  • A master’s degree with emphasis in Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, (Industrial) Engineering or similar with strong academic records
  • A Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt is an advantage
  • Being SCRUM certified is an advantage
