EY’s Forensic Investigations and Dispute Services department is growing exponentially and its Forensic Technology & Discovery Services team is currently seeking the right candidate for an excellent career opportunity in the domain of Cyber forensics.

 
The opportunity
 
Cyber forensics is a key component of the Forensic Technology & Discovery Services team and specializes in forensic technology services encompassing Data Science, eDiscovery, Forensic Data Analytics and Cyber-/IT Forensics. Using state of the art solutions, our team support clients with cyber incident response, compliance management, fraud investigation, fraud detection, and assisting clients to respond to regulatory risks/inquiries.
 
We cover a wide range of projects like data privacy and information security maturity assessments, general IT forensic and incident response investigations and remediation. The role will involve activities through the entire lifecycle of a forensic technology engagement, including the identification, preservation and collection of a variety of data sources including traditional sources such as laptops, desktops and servers, as well as more advanced collections including network packet captures and custom applications.
As part of our forensics investigations, we analyse and transform large structured and unstructured data sets using a mixture of industry standard tools and our own in-house bespoke software. It is essential that the candidate is comfortable with a wide range of technical skills including working with computer hardware, operating forensic applications and programmatically manipulating data using SQL or an object-oriented programming language.
EY’s Forensic Technology labs and datacentres provide leading forensic technology infrastructure and tools necessary to uncover the most complex cyber, compliance and fraud risks close to the occurrence.
 
Your key responsibilities

As a (junior) cyber forensic advisor, you will support digital forensic investigations while providing incident response services to investigate, detect, analyse and respond to potential intrusions. You will work alongside high performing teams to perform onsite data collections and perform data discovery tasks and malware analysis in our secure digital forensic labs and state of the art data center.

You’re likely to balance your time between directly liaising with our clients to understand their needs and draw on your acquired knowledge to identify issues with your clients. It’s all about using your knowledge and experience to creatively assess and resolve our clients’ needs from the front lines. That means speaking up with innovative ideas that challenge the status quo.
You will work and build strong relationships with the EY team, together with clients, internal and external auditors, lawyers and regulatory authorities in sensitive and adversarial situations.

To qualify for the role you must have or are
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Sciences/Computer Forensics/Information Security (or equivalent) and a maximum of three years’ work experience
  • A solid understanding of operating systems (Windows and non-Windows) and computer networks, including TCP/IP
  • A team player with an investigative mind set
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent command of spoken and written English
  • Willingness to travel on assignments
Ideally, you’ll also have
  • Experience in a consulting or professional services organisation, for example from an internship
  • Experience with databases
  • Experience using scripting languages and techniques
  • Experience with penetration testing and information security
  • Experience with malware and intrusion analysis
  • Exposure to enterprise-level networking and server administration
  • Work experience in an IT environment or even a Security Operations Centre
  • A forensic, info security or networking related certification
  • Experience with industry-standard forensic applications and tools such as EnCase, FTK & SIFT
