Junior Financial Controller / GL Specialist

The Role

As part of the Benelux Finance team, based in Amstelveen, you will be one of the 17 Finance professionals and will mainly support two of the specialized entities, WTW Global Treasury Company and Willis Netherlands Holdings. We are offering a position of 32-40 hours a week. WTW is a dynamic company and to stay ahead of this, we are looking for someone with a passion for accounting and high analytical skills.

Responsibilities will include the following:

• Ensuring monthly period end actuals in line with the required time table (including both preparing and reviewing the reconciliation of various accounts);
• Ensure all aspects of the accounting function are performed accurately;
• Month-end analysis;
• Preparing quarterly regulated reports to De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB);
• Preparing the financial statements;
• Work closely with external auditors to meet deadlines statutory filings;
• Ad hoc financial support to other Finance teams, projects and other information requests.

The Requirements

• Minimal 2-4 years of overall combined accounting and finance experience required;
• Degree in Accounting, preferable Bachelor or Business Administration HBO/ MBO+);
• Proven work experience in General Ledger accounting;
• Experience with a shared service environment;
• Knowledge of accounting principles and procedures (US GAAP / IFRS / Dutch GAAP);
• Knowledge of internal control principles;
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process;
• Excellent computer and accounting software skills, in particular Microsoft Excel, Word and Oracle;
• Fluent in English (verbal and written), second European language nice to have;
• Ability to work in a high performing team environment;
• Pro-active attitude and “get things done" mentality and flexible work attitude;
• Team player with ability to work as a group and independently;
