“I am qualified and it sounds great, but what are you guys actually doing?”

The Challenge: With supply chains becoming increasingly more volatile to economic, environmental and social pressures, businesses are looking to apply innovations in the supply chain to make it more resilient, sustainable and fair to all stakeholders involved.

Your assignment: Identify innovations that allow for the supply chain to become more sustainable. How effective are such innovations? What are the risks involved? What are options to increase their financial attractiveness? After you have shown the most promising paths forward, you make a concrete case for the client. Where can they set up these operations? What do they need to make this a success? All these details are built into a large dynamic Excel model that explores how to combine everything into a successful business model. The results are shown in a report full of graphs and tables, references to literature and recommendations gathered from interviews with experts around the world.

In your day-to-day work this would translate into:

  • Lead projects that drive structural, sustainable change in a wide range of sectors (e.g. agriculture, circularity, energy transition, water and soil) where sustainability challenges need to be tackled;
  • Providing our clients with strategic advice on the continuous improvement of their sustainability strategy and their organization’s impact;
  • Oversee the development of analytical models, tools and products ensuring appropriate guidance, validation, and quality control;
  • Ensure most efficient and effective approach for the entire project, considering the client’s perspective and team considerations (e.g. resource availability, skills);
  • Lead the generation of hypotheses to solve complex issues, selecting the most effective analytical approaches and support the team in designing data-driven and fact-based solutions;
  • Conducting comprehensive analyses to understand the root-cause of clients’ issues, and the efficiency of their interventions;
  • Lead acquisition process and contribute to business development and build your own client base;
  • Provide mentorship and nurture the culture of continuously growing and improving within the organization;
  • Structure internal processes to enable further development of the organization’s strategy that will help the team and the company grow and excel;
  • Oversee the development fact-based innovative approaches, methodologies, and tools to enable fact-based decision making on sustainability challenges;
  • Convening stakeholders in commodity sectors around a common sustainability vision and supporting the development of joint action.
