Job Description & Summary

An important part of PwC’s ambition is to help solve our client's important problems. But what does that look like if you are part of PwC’s Non Financial Risk Consulting team with a focus on regulatory compliance? Days filled with interpretation of rules & regulations? A single focus on a particular topic? Repetitive advisory services with unclear impact?

None of the above!

Our young and ambitious team of enthusiastic colleagues makes sure that they are there when it matters most to our clients within the financial sector. For example when a supervisor demands swift action and response, a (regulatory driven) project needs to be finalized as soon as possible, or when the client’s (supervisory) board is concerned about a compliance breach. In those situations, it is not only relevant to be able to interpret regulations correctly, but also to be able to transpose theory into executable actions. This results in an interesting, dynamic, and challenging work environment where our people make meaningful impact every day.

We are looking for colleagues that have a passion for compliance & regulation, and like to be part of a team that is advising top-tier financial institutions (e.g. banks, insurers, asset managers) which operate in a dynamic, yet heavily regulated and supervised environment. To be their trusted advisor, it is not only crucial to have a good understanding of compliance topics, such as Financial Crime, Conduct, or Integrity, but also to have compassion with the situation our client is in and agility to quickly familiarize yourself with regimes that you are unfamiliar with. We do this while making a real connection with our clients.

If you want to become part of our team, be ready to really get to know each other, work together, and care for each other.

What does a typical day look like?
It is hard to give you an exact example since day-to-day work may vary quite significantly. Below are some characteristics, which you may find helpful to understand how we spend our time:

  • All work that we do is project work. Project may last a month, a couple of months and even multiple years depending on the needs of the client;
  • The majority of the work is done for clients. Depending on the teams’ and the client’s preference, we execute the assignment (partly) onsite, at the PwC office or from home;
  • Our clients are positioned in the first line (business), as well as second line (e.g. risk management and compliance functions). We execute assignments on strategical, tactical and operational level;
  • We work in multidisciplinary teams. Each team member brings their own unique expertise. As such, we work with colleagues from other fields within PwC (like Technology, Operations and Strategy) and with our international PwC Risk & Regulation network;
  • Next to our current work, we like to explore what the future brings us. We are, for example, keen to experiment with what value techniques such as machine learning, robotics, artificial intelligence and blockchain can bring. This requires us to train ourselves, and work for example on value propositions.

How will you add value to our team?

As said, no day is the same. However, below is a list of tasks you may expect to work on:

  • Advise clients how to respond to supervisory inquiries;
  • Advise clients on the strategy of their compliance functions, and support in creating multi-year plans;
  • Support clients to increase the value of the compliance function by generating better and faster insights which enables better decision making;
  • Support clients in creating a sustainable and robust second line compliance function by setting up enhancement programmes;
  • Advise clients how to reduce compliance risks, for example by building or amending control frameworks to ensure compliance with regulatory requirement and good practices;
  • And of course by making time to really get to know your colleagues, care for them and their development, and participate in events.

Who are you?

We are looking for colleagues with the ambition to grow in the field of Risk & Regulation, who have:

  • A master’s degree or PhD, preferably in a business, financial-economic, social studies and/or legal direction;
  • Relevant working experience in the financial sector or with a consultancy firm in the area of Compliance and/or Regulation ;
  • Good understanding of the regulatory requirements in the financial sector;
  • Knowledge of one or more Compliance areas, e.g. FEC, AML, Conduct or Integrity;
  • Deep interest in technological developments to digitize compliance functions;
  • Experience in analysing and solving problems in an environment where technology plays a decisive role;
  • Proven experience working in/dealing with (project) teams;
  • Excellent communication skills in English;
  • An entrepreneurial, proactive mindset and the drive to make a difference in a challenging environment;
  • Consulting, teamplay and social skills, and enjoy building strong relationships with clients.

What do we offer?

At PwC you will work in a dynamic and inclusive environment. Our team is young, diverse and ambitious. We regularly organize social events and sport activities such as the yearly ski trip or the occasional ‘borrels’. And do you like hockey, running, soccer or boxing? No doubt that you will find a match in our team!

Besides a great team, we have excellent employment conditions. A short summary is that we offer:

  • A positive and demanding working environment with highly qualified colleagues who are entrepreneurial, innovative, pro-active, strive to improve themselves continuously and share their knowledge with the team;
  • An innovative working environment that creates opportunities for personal development;
  • The possibility to work internationally, being part of a global consulting firm;
  • A personal coach who guides you in achieving your goals;
  • A predefined training curriculum and the possibility for additional individual training;
  • Continuous training and coaching on the job by senior colleagues;
  • A satisfying salary and secondary benefits, including 32 vacation days;
  • A yearly budget to spend on personal trainings, external coaching and various mental well-being programs (e.g. mindfulness, yoga and sports).
