Intern Data Scientist
Berenschot is looking for a intern data scientist with a background in mathematics, statistics, econometrics, physics, or software engineering. You will mainly based in Utrecht. Are you able to visualise data and communicate this information by presenting assessments in a clear and straightforward way, whether orally or in writing? What we expect from you in concrete terms
You are in the final stage of your Master’s such as econometrics, physics, (bio-)statistics, computer science, applied mathematics or engineering.
You are familiar with the terms data, attributes, data types, tables, etc. You know how to deal with imperfections in data, called data cleaning.
You are able to work with statistics and data base tools/systems. You are able to communicate, in descriptive terms, your (at least basic) understanding of statistics. You have knowledge of and preferably experience with statistics tools, analytics programs, machine learning and statistical methods to prepare data for use in predictive and prescriptive modelling. You can use statistical analysis tools such as MatLab, R, SPSS and STATISTICA and you have a basic understanding of machine-learning concepts, such as k-nearest neighbours, random forests, neural networks, etc. You can implement these techniques using R, Python or MatLab libraries.
You have experience with big data tools (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, HDFS, Cassandra, Storm, Hive, Pig) and exposure to Cloud tools and you can work with large data sets.
You have a thorough understanding of software engineering processes and their principles. You are proficient with software development technologies such as Python, Java, C/C++, .Net and SQL. In addition, you have excellent knowledge of EXCEL. You have experience writing scripts or code in at least one of the following coding languages: Java, .Net, Python, R, or MatLab.
